Here's why Fury was so mad.

Teresa had learnt a lot while working as Fury’s assistant.

She had learnt that things ran much more smoothly for everyone if you phoned ahead to warn parties that no new laws on smoking in public places and/or health concerns would mean that the director would not smoke; how to say “The Director is unavailable right now, can I help?” in 352 languages (including Atlantean); not to disturb when Sub- director Dugan and the director were in conference together and to always approach the director from his right side.

She could shoot better than the special forces of twenty nations; fly or drive over 300 vehicles; stare down an infuriated prince who reeked of fish; sooth a troubled national icon, know how to make over twenty different forms of coffee.
Today the Director was starting with a standard. Coffee, black, no sugar, just pure caffeine.
She gave him a soft smile as she placed it in front of him.

“Rough night last night, sir?”

Fury growled at her, grabbing the mug as if it were a lifeline and pouring about half of it down his throat.

“Make a note, Atlantean brandy is illegal for a reason!” She had made this same note, nearly 3000 times, and knew she’d probably make it another 3000. The simple fact was that for all his bullying and bluster, Fury would never let a friend down. So if that meant a hangover after toasting Namor’s new son late into the night, so be it.

She headed out, wandering if he’d seen the papers yet.

The sound of coffee being spit over the keyboard told her probably not.

“Teresa! Get Rogers on the phone!”

Carefully, she began sorting the papers on her desk.

That was something else she’d learnt as Fury’s assistant, how to be temporarily deaf. Well, at least until the press conference at 9.
